After 22 years as a pastel artist, I began exploring cold wax & oil in 2020.
I painted a series of Arizona monsoon "Haboobs". Another series called "Pathways of Light" was inspired by the physical installations of artist James Turrell.
My latest series "Piercing Illusions", are folded paper airplane subjects painted in Acrylic. They are an embellishment of the clean edges and geometric color patterns of the folds of paper. My intention is to show a new way of viewing a simple subject that evokes playfulness and for some, memories of childhood fun.
Sandra grew up in Southern California, graduated from Cal State Fullerton, moved to Hawaii with her family. Moved to Phoenix in 1980. Her career was in computer graphics and advertising. She was one of the pioneering computer graphics artists in Arizona, beginning in 1984. She and husband Larry ran and curated art events in downtown Phoenix, at Obliq and Galleries for 5 years. Currently they create food, fashion, art, and music events at their home gallery in Cinnabar Canyon, showcasing their artwork and art of guest artists.
